Dublin defeat Mayo despite 2-7 from Lisa Cafferky

In an impressive turnaround during the second half, Dublin, the reigning All-Ireland champions, clinched their inaugural win of the Lidl National League season amidst challenging conditions at James Stephens Park in Ballina.

Under Mick Bohan’s guidance, Dublin initially found themselves nine points down at the break, having battled through the first half against strong winds. However, they dominated the game following the interval, completely reversing their fortunes.

Dublin’s resurgence was marked by a commanding 2-11 to 0-01 run against Liam McHale’s local team in the second half, featuring notable goals by Caoimhe O’Connor and Kate Sullivan, highlighting Dublin’s remarkable performance.

At the end of the first half, Mayo appeared to be in a strong lead with a score of 2-07 to 0-04, thanks to a standout performance by Lisa Cafferky, who scored 2-06 and posed a significant challenge to the Dublin defense.
