Derry 3-17 Monaghan 0-13

Derry put on a commanding display at Celtic Park, securing a comfortable victory over Monaghan to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Shane McGuigan once again led the scoring charge for Derry, tallying an impressive 0-11.

The match began with both teams exchanging points in a lively and competitive opening. Despite Monaghan briefly taking the lead through efforts from Darren McDonnell and Michael Hamill, Derry quickly responded, with McGuigan and Ciaran McFaul capitalizing on their scoring opportunities.

Derry then went on a relentless scoring spree, building a six-point lead by the 18th minute. Although Monaghan managed to narrow the gap to four points by the 28th minute, Derry extended their advantage with a well-executed goal by McCluskey, entering halftime with a commanding 1-9 to 0-6 lead.

In the second half, despite Jack McCarron’s best efforts for Monaghan, Derry maintained control and pulled away convincingly. Adding insult to injury for Monaghan, Derry netted two more goals to seal their dominance. Ethan Doherty played a pivotal role, setting up McGrogan for a powerful finish in the 52nd minute, while debutant Eunan Mulholland assisted Conor Doherty for an easy close-range goal.

With this emphatic victory, Derry ascended to the top of Division One in impressive fashion, firmly establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the league.
