Oisín Gallen helps Donegal edge past Cavan

In a closely contested battle at Kingspan Breffni, Donegal secured a hard-fought one-point victory over Cavan, enduring a tense finale as Cavan rallied with three consecutive points late in the game.

Both teams entered the match with confidence, having won their respective first-round fixtures.

Cavan made a strong start, but as the first half progressed, Donegal gradually gained control, with Oisin Gallen looking very dangerous.

By halftime, Donegal had built an 0-08 to 0-04 lead with the assistance of a strong wind.

Cavan began the second half with determination, with Dara McVeety taking a mark and Lynch converting a 45-meter free.

Donegal responded impressively, kicking into high gear. Gallen darted through the center to score and Patrick McBrearty got in on the action to build a 0-11 to 0-7 lead.

Cavan launched a late comeback but Donegal managed to withstand the late surge to hold on for the narrow one-point victory.
