Hannah Tyrrell helps Dublin hold off Waterford challenge

In a dramatic match at Fraher Field in Dungarvan, Dublin clinched their third consecutive Division 1 win, securing victory with two injury-time frees from Hannah Tyrrell. Waterford, led by Kellyann Hogan’s late heroics, mounted a spirited challenge, narrowing the gap to just one point before Tyrrell’s decisive kicks sealed the win for Dublin.

The turning point occurred when Dublin defender Leah Caffrey denied Waterford a crucial goal opportunity, allowing Niamh Hetherton to capitalize with a goal for Dublin. Despite Waterford’s valiant efforts, including a penalty conversion by Lauren McGregor, Dublin maintained their lead with points from Kate Sullivan and Tyrrell.

Waterford’s early lead was challenged by Dublin’s resilience, highlighted by Orlagh Nolan’s penalty conversion before halftime. Waterford’s strong start to the second half, including McGregor’s penalty goal, put them briefly ahead, but Dublin’s determination shone through as they secured a hard-fought victory, despite Hogan’s late goal and point for Waterford.

Overall, Dublin’s clinical performance and late-game composure proved decisive, securing them a vital win in the Division 1 campaign.
