Things have gone from bad to worse for Kildare after they suffered their fourth league defeat in a row today at the hands of Meath. It was a hard-fought match in Navan, with Meath securing a three-point victory in the end.
Despite Meath dominating play in the first half, they only led by one point at halftime. Meath’s direct running and pace posed significant problems for Kildare’s defence, with crucial scores coming from Costello and Frayne’s free kicks.
Kildare relied on long-range efforts due to Meath’s tight defending but managed to stay within touching distance on the scoreboard, largely thanks to Ben McCormack’s scores. Meath’s Ronan Jones demonstrated impressive leadership, driving much of their attacking play.
Despite losing a player to a black card, Meath displayed resilience, with exemplary leadership from Jones and Keoghan helping them secure victory.
Kildare briefly leveled the score in the second half and took the lead with twenty minutes remaining but squandered opportunities with missed shots, allowing Meath to capitalize and regain control.
The result leaves Kildare at the bottom of Division 2, while Meath celebrates their second successive home win, moving onto five points in the league table.
